NOTICE OF RACE


  1. RULES

    1. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the current issue of The Racing Rules of Sailing.

    2. Rules 52 and 77, of the RRS will not apply.

    3. Each participating vessel shall carry safety equipment as specified by their flag state for coastal navigation.

    4. If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.


  1. ADVERTISING

    1. Advertising will be restricted to Category C.


  1. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

    1. The regatta is open to all boats of the following classes:

      - CSA Monohull

      - CSA Multihull

    - Rum Class (un-rated vessels with the emphasis on participation)

    1. Eligible boats may enter by completing and submitting the online form. Fees must be paid at registration.

    2. Late entries will be accepted at registration.


  1. FEES

    1. An entry fee of USD 2.00 per foot of length overall for each vessel.


  1. REGISTRATION

    1. Registration is mandatory for all entrants and will take place at the Committee Desk at the Iguana Bar, Oyster Pond on Friday 19 May 2017 from 16.00 to 19.00

    2. Online entry is encouraged.


  1. IDENTIFICATION

    1. All boats are required to register their sail numbers for identification purposes.

    2. All boats without sail numbers will be required to carry bow numbers for the purpose of identification. These will be supplied at Registration and a refundable cash deposit of US $50 will be charged to all boats requiring bow numbers.


  1. SCHEDULE

    1. Dates of racing:

    - Saturday 20 May 2017

    - Sunday 21 May 2017

    1. The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on 20 May 2017 is 10.00.
      The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race on 21 May 2017 is 09.00.







  1. MEASUREMENTS

    1. Rating systems will be as follows:

    - CSA monohulls and multihulls – 2017 CSA certificate required, appropriate TCF will apply.

    - Rum Class – Non rated


  1. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

    1. The sailing instructions will be available online and at registration not later than 1500 on 19 May 2017.


  1. VENUE

    1. The venue for the races shall be the coastal and surrounding waters off St Maarten.


  1. THE COURSES

    1. The courses will be described in the sailing instructions.


  1. PENALTY SYSTEM

    1. The Scoring Penalty, rule 44.3, will not apply.


  1. SCORING

    1. The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply.

    2. Two races are required to be completed to constitute a series. All races will count, there will be no discards.


  1. SUPPORT BOATS

    1. Support boats shall be marked with a Sponsor's flag.


  1. RADIO COMMUNICATION

    1. Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.


  1. PRIZES

    1. Prizes will be given as follows:

    - Awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for all CSA classes.

    - Captain Oliver's Memorial Trophy for the Most Worthy Boat of the Regatta.

    - An award will be made to recognise participation in the Rum Class.


  1. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

    1. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.


  1. INSURANCE

    1. Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of USD 100 000 per event or the equivalent.
